Dear Santa...

BIKES OR BARBIES?!?!

Mom is really relieved that I've gotten past my wish for a bike this year. (Even though she had it all arranged to fly the bike back home from Salt Lake AND Denver) But now she's not sure that Santa Claus will bring a Disney Princess Barbie to a 3-year old girl...

But my best friend has two!

I MIGHT be happy to wake up to an SUV and car seats for my doll house family... but I might not.

Should Santa start my Barbie phase of life this Christmas???

Em--I say no. I threw out a Barbie that one of Ashley's friends gave us (she was wearing a really sketchy outfit). I know the Disney ones have really pretty clothes, but the whole promoting an unreasonable self image thing gets me...I'm not saying that I definitely would never buy a Disney one for my girls, but if Mary just wants a fun doll to play with, I would recommend the Only Hearts Club dolls. They sell them at Target and are the size of Barbies, but actually look like 8year old girls. There are storybooks and lots of accessories to go along with them. That's my recommendation. Love you!

Hey! I saw the Only Hearts Club dolls today. I think they have lots of animals that go with them. I would suggest the Fisher-Price Snap 'n Style friends. You get to change their clothes (and a three year old can do it) and they wear normal clothes. I think there are mini snap 'n style dolls too, which I like better.

Its too bad that they don't sell "Garbage Pail Children" anymore. You could get her one of those and then watch "Monsters" and "Monsters Inc." Then she will sleep tight every night.

I can't believe Mary is so old to even be thinking about these things! Wow. Time really flies. I'm sure toys get more expensive as they get older too. I'm sure whatever you decide is great for Mary, Em. You are such a good Mom!

Bikes, thats the only way to go... but I am a bike fanatic. Remind her that bikes make you big and strong, she might forget about the Barbies (and that Barbies are for girls).
Glad to see the fam is doing well. Check out Elinor's blog at
